There are pros and cons of using agents. This has been a complex tradeoff across the history of cybersecurity. Agents have better detection and prevention. Agentless doesn't require installation. This one-sided article isn't worthy of CyberWhy.

Indeed there are pros and cons of using agents. I couldn't agree more. As a matter of fact I had a deep discussion just this morning on the topic with a good friend - it is a VERY complex concept and discourse should be had from both sides of the coin. There are pluses and minus to homogenous architectures, auto update features, and agents and each person has their own view into the issues.

While I appreciate your commentary and thoughts I'm mostly grateful that you don't get to decide what is and isn't worthy of my newsletter - that's my job. Feel free to write a counter point and I will happily post that on your behalf as well! Thanks for your comments!

No comment on the writing, I generally find the cyber why interesting.

Came here to comment on the same agent/agentless trade-off. There’s reasons why both exist, that should be better reflected in the article.

Do like Katie’s writing though. Keep writing! :)

Thank you for your comment. This article was written intentionally from one point of view. It does not mean that there is not another perfectly valid argument for agents. In fact, I am not anti-agent at all. For this particular piece (and for various reasons) I chose one angle. Not every piece needs to account for multiple points of view. I do that frequently in my writing. I *will* keep writing, and sometimes those pieces will be biased. Provocation of thought is a wonderful tool to move people outside of their boxes.
